06/04/2010 - Pittsburgh, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The San Francisco Giants recalled outfielder Pat Burrell from Fresno on Friday and optioned outfielder John Bowker to their Triple-A affiliate.

Burrell, 33, was previously released by the Tampa Bay Rays after hitting .202 with a .292 on-base percentage in 24 games this season. He hit two home runs but struck out 28 times in 84 at-bats.

The Giants then signed the veteran to a minor league contract on May 29. In five games at Fresno, he went 5-for-16 with a home run and six RBI.

The top overall pick of the 1998 draft, Burrell spent nine seasons with the Phillies -- winning the World Series in 2008 -- before signing a two-year deal with the Rays. He struggled with Tampa Bay in 2009, hitting .221 with 14 homers and 64 RBI in 122 games.

In 1,452 career contests with Philadelphia and Tampa Bay, Burrell has a .253 batting average, .362 on-base percentage, 267 home runs and 904 RBI.

Bowker was batting .207 with three homers and eight RBI in 41 games this season with the Giants.
